
Joe Klimavich is a seasoned public relations consultant with over 40 years of experience in the field. He is a PRSA-accredited professional with a special interest in issues management and crisis communication. He is also skilled in advertising, graphic design, branding, content development, photography, and strategic planning.
Joe has been an adjunct instructor of communication for over 30 years at various New England colleges and universities, teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in public relations, interpersonal communication, advertising, mass media, effective speaking, leadership, and management courses. Currently, he teaches public relations, interpersonal communication, and public speaking as an adjunct faculty member in the Communication Department at Worcester State University.
Most of Joe’s professional appointments have been in key leadership positions in healthcare/managed care, and banking, but his work as an independent public relations consultant has spanned a variety of industries, including insurance, healthcare, publishing, merchant services, e-commerce, non-profit, restaurant, accounting, landscaping, dance education, and numerous other fields.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys being involved with some of the films that are being shot in central Massachusetts. He has appeared as a background actor in the Apple TV+ series, Defending Jacob, starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, and Jaeden Martell, a series pilot called Hollywoo, and the locally-filmed horror story, Birthrite. He also had a featured role playing Bud, one of two central characters in the short film Madigan’s Again.
With his wife, Barbara, Joe is a member of the Old Sturbridge Village Singers at the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast. Joe also volunteers for the Heart of New England Scouting Council as a merit badge counselor for the Journalism and Communication merit badges. He is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and, in 2022, he led the effort to reactivate that organization’s Greater Worcester Chapter.
He holds a Master of Science in Professional Communication (MSPC) degree from Clark University. He earned his undergraduate degree at Worcester State University, where he was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award in education, the highest non-degree recognition the university bestows on alumni, and the Adjunct Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award.
